GOOD LUCK!
Meet Seymour
Seymour is my “little” rescue from across the country, I was searching for a Newfoundland mix & I saw his picture on the internet, a girl found him on the street in Independence, MO & took him in until I flew him here to LA. He was a handful @ first but now he’s the best dog in the world & my family & I are obsessed w/him. This picture of him @ the window is @ his grandparents’ house, he runs there & looks out whenever there is a dog that dares to walk by! His hobbies are hiking, running, & stealing food.
Meet Bentley
Bentley was found in the 10 Fwy. and we adopted him as ours. He was extremely skinny, scared and dirty. Who knows how long he was out there in the streets without anything. He has been with us for 2 years. Bentley’s are luxurious vehicles, that you find in the freeway, and we chose to name him Bentley because he went from being a lost, hungry dog, to a rich in love dog. We feel so happy to be able to give him a great life.
Meet Tony
My dog Tony is a rescue dog. I got him from Forever Friends Animal League in Kansas City, KS – when I lived in KC Missouri. He was just a puppy when I got him, 3 1/2 months old. I found him on Petfinder, and his little picture just melted my heart. Then I came to find out he was the last one from his litter – how could I not want him! I arranged a meet-and-greet, and the second I held him (all 4 pounds of him) he rested his little head on my chest and that was the end of it. He was my dog. I got him in December a few days after my birthday. I was away from family and friends when I lived in KCMO, and Tony quickly became my loving companion.
I’m not quite sure of his exact mix – but I think it’s a Jack Russell mixed with mini-poodle. He is 12 lbs, and will be 3 Aug 25th. Side note – he has a natural mohawk, and it can be dyed!
He pretty much “saved” me when I was feeling alone and far from family and friends. He makes me laugh every day, and cuddles up next to me at night. Everyone he meets, he puts a smile on their face. Shelter dogs are the best, because they are just happy to be with you! Tony would make a great addition to your BOL calendar!
Meet Sampson
I want to nominate my dog Sampson … he is a big ol’ goofy dog with a heart of gold. He is the best buddy of my 4 year old son CJ, and the pillow/bed/seat/big teddy bear for my 2 and 1 year old daughters. Sammy is 6 years old, and we were lucky to find him at the Carlsbad pound. He is an amazing puppy dog, with hugs and kisses galore. Who thinks he’s a lapdog, despite being 80 pounds. Sammy had to have surgery a few weeks ago, and as my husband and I were pacing in the waiting room, CJ was very calm, he said ” don’t worry mommy, nothing bad will happen to Sammy because we love him too much!”
He’s a sweetheart and handsome too!
Meet Annie
Annie was rescued from the Orange County Animal Shelter on June 26th, 2010. She was surrendered as a stray and was aprox. 6 months old. She was skinny, scared, fearful and crying because she was so excited to go home to a loving family.
However, what Annie didn’t know, was that there were already two other dogs waiting her arrival. Jessie, an 8 year old border collie and Curly, a 10 year old cockapoo. They were not sure who she was, and what she was doing at their house. After a while of getting to know each other, they all became playmates.
Annie attends Petsmart Puppy training and will graduate August 21st. She is a typical border collie, stares, fast, agile, herds, and energetic. Her favorite toys are the tennis ball and rawhides. She is still getting use to being around people and daily sounds. She likes to snuggle, go for walks to the park and she likes to watch TV! We love her and are thankful that Barks of Love was able to bring Annie into our family.
Meet Captain & Tenielle
Hi there! My name is Captain but you can often hear my mom calling me Cappy Noo (I have no idea why)! My sister Tennille and I were adopted by my parents from Barks of Love in December. From what my mom says, she was looking for a rescue dog and came across my adorable face on petfinder. She set up a time to meet me right away and that’s when she found out I had a sister. When Barks of Love was wondering if she would adopt both of us, she said yes! I’m very attached to my sister and was so happy that we were going to our furever home together. I’m in charge at home and take very good care of my sister. Sometimes I get in trouble when I’m bothering her and she’s trying to sleep. I have a lot of energy and really don’t like to take naps, unless I have no one to play with. I’m very attached to my parents and can get a little whiney when they aren’t around. I tell them I’m sorry for whining or doing something bad with my sorry face. My mom can’t resist, I swear it works every time! Sometimes when I make my face, she will take out her camera and take pictures of me. In the picture she has sent you, I had just dug a very big hole in the front yard, I got a little carried away. I think my mom was happy because she pulled out her camera to take a picture of me and was laughing really hard. I love every person I meet and make quick friends with dogs. I guess you can say I’m the life of the party.
Hello, my name is Tennille and I’m a ten month old doxie mix. I was adopted with my brother from Barks of Love. I’m a kind hearted and loving dog. My mom says I’m perfect! I don’t get in as much trouble as my brother but that’s because I’m just good at not getting caught. I love to play with any toy that squeaks! My favorite toy is a monkey that squeaks. I remember when my mom came home one day, she had three more just like him! I love my mom because she buys me lots of toys and spends lots of time with me. My favorite thing to do is wake up my parents by smothering them with kisses all over their face. All they do is laugh and laugh, so I keep doing it. In my picture, I have a wood chip in my mouth. Before my parents re did their front yard, it was covered in wood chips and I loved chewing on them! It didn’t make them very happy. Once they fixed the front yard, all my wood chips were gone! I was so sad but found other things to chew on. I’m very different from my brother, but the one thing that we share is our never ending love for our wonderful life!
Meet Rigby
Rigby warmed our hearts from the moment we got him. Chris and I fostered Rigby and his brother who were rescued from Kern County. When we got them they were tiny, adorable, a LOT of work, and complete opposites. Rigby’s brother was adorable but very noisy and definitely ruled the roost. Rigby, on the other hand never barked, love to cuddle, and was super mellow. We decided to adopt him almost immediately. We could only imagine what a wonderful dog this so well behaved puppy would turn into. He has learned so much from his “brothers” our other two dogs. He loves to exercise, go to the dog park, sleep, eat, and even watch T.V. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful dog and we have Barks Of Love to thank for that. Rigby would make a great calendar dog because he is a unique blend of basenji and chow. He has a great smile and a great personality. He loves other dogs and being pampered. . . . . .But who doesn’t?
Meet Honey
We adopted “Honey” from BOL last December. What a perfect match for our family!! We could not have ‘ordered’ a better dog if we tried. I’ve had purebreds in the past and our little rescue HONEY outshines them all by FAR!! Her favorite thing to do is “herd” our neighbors goats (never bites them). She’s a little cuddle-bug all the time, you can’t sit on the couch without her in your lap asking for a stomach rub.
Danielle from BOL was such an inspiration. We highly recommend and support Barks of Love for your assistance in placing these forgotten dogs. You all do a wonderful job!
Meet Dodger
Dodger is about a year old. While I was working in a school, he was left in the front school steps alone. He was approximately 2 -4 months old. He was very thin and very dirty and he smelled really bad. Because of what I do (I work for School Police), I was immediately supposed to call Animal Services, but instead, took him in the arms and walked about 2 blocks, north, east, west, and south, and asked if the puppy belonged to anyone. No one seemed to know anything so I took him into my office (knowing It was probably I would be in trouble) and decided that I would take him home to shower and feed. Once we got home, I immediately showered him and fed him a little (he ate like he hadn’t eaten in days!) and he went to sleep for about 2 hours!!! When my husband got home, I told him what happened, and we began to call shelters to see if anyone had reported him missing. Days went by and no one was looking for him. It took only hours for us to fall in love with him, so we decided to make him part of the family. We named him Dodger because my husband dies for his baseball team. He is extremely playful, a very happy dog. My husband has taught him to ‘speak’, sit, role, fetch. It has been an amazing experience.
Meet Harley & Zoe
Harley is a 2 year old miniature Australian Shepherd that is the sweetest dog ever. He loves his mommy and is always found right by her side. He makes sure to ward off any intruders from the backyard including birds and airplanes. The minute someone comes hom he is the first to give you kisses and hugs (literally he will jump up on you when you kneel down and put his arms over your shoulders).
Zoe is a 1 year old bull terrier. She eminates her breed and is a complete bully, she will walk on your lap even though she weighs 55lbs, she makes sure to stand over Harley if he is eating a bone she wants, and she is the ultimate bed hog. She has the funniest personality ever and can make anyone laugh after spending 5 minutes with them. She is actually a rescue from Southern California Bull Terrier Rescue and her story is that she and her mom and sister were surrendered to the pound after they were born with mange (the mom had mange too). They were going to put them all down but called the rescue group who scooped them up and brought them back to health. I am so glad that there are dedicated animal lovers out there in the trenches saving dogs lives because otherwise we would not have our angel Zoe with us today.
Meet Oliver
Oliver, a fifteen month old, 130 pound Bullmastiff, came to Brad and Lynn Leeman on July 2, 2010 from Barks of Love. His beautiful face had been posted on Facebook by Brad and Lynn’s daughter-in-law in Colorado. Brad and Lynn saw Oliver and fell in love. Oliver has brought so much love and joy to his new owners; they talk about him constantly to the dismay of their friends. They will be eternally grateful to their wonderful daughter-in-law and Facebook for bringing Oliver into their lives!
Meet Stewie

This is our 4 year old beagle Stewie – we rescued him two years ago. Or, should we say, he rescued us – he followed us around at the rescue organization and was so adorable, we had no choice but to bring him home! It turned out that he wasn’t housebroken, had never seemed to play with toys or chew bones, and was sick with severe ear infections and skin allergies. It took a while to nurse him back to health and “domesticate” him but it was so worth it! He is a wonderful dog – very sweet, snuggly, and, well, charismatic! Everyone who meets him falls in love with him! We feel very lucky he chose us!
Meet Mortie and Addie
Mortie is our two year old Scottie and Addie is around 9 months old in this photo. We took Addie down to Huntington Dog Beach for the first time and both dogs had a blast! Sand, seagulls and seaweed it was a fun filled morning. Queue the sandy beards
Unfortunately, we believe Addie has a disorder that makes his back legs give out if he gets too excited. This was a shot after lots of excitement, when a well deserved rest was needed. The personality differences in these two is unbelievable and well reflected in this photo.
Meet Zach
Zach is a pit bull, rescued from the shelter. When I went to the shelter, I simply asked which dogs were on “the list” for that day and they pointed out Zach. He had been there for 30 days and although dogs usually only have 4 to 10 days, they kept Zach a little longer because they thought he was special. Boy, were they right. It was my intention to foster him and then find him a great home since I already had two Scotties, but Zach touched my heart and brought more joy into my life than I could ever imagine. Although it was clear that he was abused in his former life, he has nothing but love for everyone he met. He is incredibly sweet and submissive and loves to play with his little Scottie brothers, Barney and Duncan. He has adapted to homelife quite nicely and enjoys his daily routine of walks, feedings, treats, playtime, and relaxation. People kept telling me that Zach won the dog lottery when I decided to rescue him since he has a nice, fun, comfortable, and secure home environment, but I think quite the opposite. I won the lottery when Zach came into my life.
Meet Waldo
Waldo, a cock-a-poo or scottie/poodle mix, had a very long journey that ended on August 13, 2010. He was found in a high kill shelter by a volunteer who works for a poodle rescue group. Waldo was almost blind, with his right eye being completely dysfunctional from a very mature cataract and mostly blind in his other eye from a second cataract. The volunteer fostered him until a home was found. Unfortunately that turned oout to be a temporary one since his person required bilateral hip replacement surgery and could not longer attend to his needs. He was returned to the poodle rescue group and a new home could not be found for him for several months. Finally, a drive was put forth, asking the adoptees of other poodles to please help with corrective eye surgery, in an attempt to improve Waldo’s sight and life as well as his adopt-ability. These dog lovers pulled through with flying colors and Waldo had his cataract surgery at the end of May. He has become a sighted dog and is playing freely with other dogs and gaining in independence and confidence on a daily basis, as evidenced by his smiling face. After his surgery, he went into another foster home for his two month rehabilitation and was subsequently adopted by them, where he now lives with his pack of two standard poodles.
Meet Sid
I adopted him in October 2010 at a Barks of Love event. When we first met, he was shy and a scaredy cat. He’s grown into a happy, energetic, 1-year old (his birthday is this month). His favorite things to do are visit the Dog Beach in Long Beach (he looooves other dogs, but he’s so good he comes to me when I’m ready to go home), take long walks around downtown Long Beach seeing the sights, and play fetch in my parents’ backyard.
Meet Rocco
This is sweet Rocco. He is a 1.5 year old red Doberman. Rocco was adopted as a 22 lb. puppy from the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter in March of 2009. He was brought to the shelter as an owner release when he was 8 weeks old. He is now almost 80 lbs. and has become the best friend of our 4 year old daughter, Madelyn. She loves to dress him up and snuggle with him. He has the most wonderful personality, but he also has a naughty side, chewing whatever he can find including trees and patio furniture!
Meet Riley
Dogs are magical creatures. They have the ability to wipe away fears, tears, and sadness with a glance, a smile or a well placed lick. They have the ability to share in your happiness and joy weather dancing on your couch, jumping up for a kiss or smiling when you take out their leash. Riley DiGuido is my magical dog!! He is filled with unconditional love, I often am jealous that he lives such a pure and uncomplicated life; that the thing that makes him most happy is being able to put his head out the window and feel the air rush through his ears. Wouldn’t it be great if happiness were as simple as that?
Riley treats everyone he meets as someone who is important. He showers them with love and hugs that they can’t help but laugh, smile and giggle. Riley LOVES to smile…that smile is just amazing – you can see it in the pictures above – I hope that you’ll give this magical dog an opportunity to inspire a little magic in others!
Meet Riggins
Riggins is simply amazing. He is 5 years old and has been my baby since he was 3 mos through thick and thin! My life would not be complete without him. That seems like a very over dramatic thing to say but it is so true!
He is a lover not a fighter. His dark hair and athletic build puts some people off. Add his menacing deep velvety bark and you have a decent guard dog! Something I encourage as a single lady living in a house in a not so great neighborhood. Just don’t tell folks that his bark is just his hello and if you were to break in he would simply give you kisses and guide you to his treat cabinet so you know where to get the good stuff!
After Lori took pictures of us, which I adore, Riggins got really sick. The vet couldn’t really figure it out. I have chalked it up to a bad reaction to medicine/allergy/asthma thing. BUT it scared me to death. At one point he was having problems breathing and I loaded him up into the back of my car to take to the emergency vet. As I sat SOBBING in the waiting room I thought about how much I loved him and how much he meant to me and how HAPPY I was that I choose to have someone talented take professional pictures of him so I will always have him with me no matter what. Riggins was fine! Shook it off like a champ and hasn’t had a problem since.
I simply can’t imagine my life with out him. He is my friend, my baby, my hiking buddy, and my protector. He is my family and is expected to be with me at every family gathering from birthday parties to Christmas. My nephew could say Riggins before he could say Wendy and even now we are the duo “Riggins and Wendy” or “Wendy and Riggins”.
Meet Amy
Amy is a 13 year old pit bull mix. She was adopted from the Orange County Animal Care Center in December of 1997 when she was about 6 months old. Amy loves everyone she meets, but, unfortunately, not always every dog she meets. She is a favorite at the vet’s office where she visits quite a bit, as she has Addison’s disease. Since she is older now, her favorite activities are snuggling with us on the couch or lying in the sun, but she also still enjoys getting out for short walks, chasing lizards and chewing her bone. She lives with two other dogs and still wrestles with them occasionally. We love our girl.
Meet Rex
Rex was found on the street by a good samaritan. Who knows how long he was on his own. Long enough to get double blisters on his poor feet. He was in bad shape. Skinny, starving, ears cropped with probably a pair of scissors. And probably without any novacaine. But he never lost his happy attitude. He landed in a foster home with Christina, who made it her mission to find him a home. (everyone at Barks Of Love secretly thought she would keep him). But she didn’t. He found us. And we couldn’t be happier to have him as a part of our family. He’s a big happy lug. Full of love, life and lots of kisses.
Meet Blu
We came upon Blu on petfinder.com. We weren’t really in the market for a dog, as we had just bought our house & were still getting settled in. Obviously we’d toyed around with the idea, hence our petfinder.com search.
Upon seeing his photos, we were intrigued & wanted to know more. He was absolutely stunning & we could swear he was smiling at us!
We contacted Barks of Love & spoke to Danielle the very same day. She advised that Blu was an owner surrender & was living in a foster home in a nearby city. She put me in contact w/ the foster “parents” & we scheduled a meet & greet that same night. Let’s just say, it was love at first sight. He was such a stunning dog w/ such a beautiful tempermant. We’d never seen such a calm Weimaraner before. After spending an hour w/ him, we made the decision that we wanted to adopt him. Before driving away, we contaced Danielle/ BOL again & asked what was the next step. She scheduled a home visit for the next day, Monday March 8. My husband & I frantically raced around town to get all of the necessities for him. I bought the biggest, squishiest bed I could find, food/ water bowls, a nylabone, collar & leash. We were both nervous wrecks all day, wondering if there was anything that could hinder the adoption, 7pm could not come soon enough. Needless to say, all went well w/ our home visit & Blu was ours, forever!
Unfortunately, all was not as perfect as it seemed, Blu became very sick. He was lethargic & had classic symptoms of gastrointestinal problems. We spent about $1000 in testing & medication to try to get a diagnosis. Thankfully, his testing all came back in a positive light, meaning he did not have any detectable diseases. We were in panic mode, contacting BOL & the foster “parents”. I went as far as to speak w/ his previous owner & three previous vets. No one had any ideas or previous issues w/ him. He was so sick & we were wrecked…. I took days off of work to keep an eye on him, I even talked my boss into letting me bring Blu to work w/ me twice. The combination of prescription dog food & medication seemed to do the trick!!!! All of his symptoms seemed to fade away after a gut wrenching month of a very sick baby. On his first vet visit, he weighed in at 58lbs & is now a whopping 70lbs. He is a healthy, muscular, running, ball chasing boy!
I am pleased to say that he is a wonderful addition to our family & we could not be happier. He is just perfect, we love him & he was meant to be our baby boy Blu!!!
Meet Pinky
Here is the beautiful Ms. Pinky, a before pic of her at the Pasadena shelter on 1/31/10 and an after pic at the Great Park in Irvine on 6/26/10. A life from behind bars to a wonderful adventurous life of freedom with her new friends and family. Despite her skin cancer, she is living a healthy happy life.
Meet Gypsy
Meet gypsy. Gypsy was rescued from the North Central Los Angeles Shelter the day she turned 8 weeks old. That was July 12th 2008. We had previously agreed to take a dog from a litter that had been found behind a dumpster, but the rescuer decided to keep the puppy we were going to adopt. I saw online that gypsy’s litter was going to be available for adoption beginning the 12th of July ’08 so we went right as they opened to get first pick. We first looked at one of Gypsy’s brothers and were just about to take him when the shelter worker brought over Gypsy. Gypsy was special because she had a significant umbilical herniation, which looked a lot like a tumor. We instantly knew that she would have a harder time getting adopted so we were happy to take her off their hands. We waited to get her spay until she was six months and got her herniation taken care of at the same time. She is now a happy two year old who loves to play chase with her adopted sister Foster, she loves to carry her “ball” around (the word “ball” is what she understands ALL her toys to be), and she loves going for walks. We love her and her sister unconditionally and find it difficult not to buy them a new toy whenever we go out. Adopting these girls was one of the best, most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made. I am grateful for groups like BOL who make it possible for dogs like Gypsy and Foster to get second chances.
Meet Cisco & Mo
My name is Cisco Kid and I began my life as “Orion” one of the infamous Zodiac Pups. I was rescued with all of my sisters and my mom, by Barks Of Love. I was blessed to be adopted by my new mom and came to live with my big brother “Mo” who was also rescued eight years earlier. Mo and I have a special and loving bond- we both started out our lives rough…but Mo had it really rough!
Mo was found, left for dead, on the streets of LA. He had been run over by a car and his entire pelvis and back legs shattered-nobody wanted this physically crippled pup. But my mom always likes the “under-dog” as they call us! After thousands of dollars of surgery, lots of TLC and rehab- he is good as new. We live in an unusual house- living harmoniously with a 30 year old desert tortoise in our yard, 6 large parrots, a snake and tons of wild lizards and bunnies! You would think that us pups would have a field day chasing and scaring all of the wild creatures- but we do not. We love everybody and everything. We are ambassadors of the much misunderstood and negatively portrayed breed of Pit bulls and American Bulldogs.
Meet Birdie
Birdie is a 2 yr old female White English Lab. She thinks anyone and everyone are her friends!! She will do just about anything for FOOD! So sad, I know!! But it’s the lab in her that just loves the food!
Apples, carrots, lettuce and cheese OH MY! She can also eat grass like nobody’s business! A game of chasing the whitewash at the beach?! She’s there!
Meet Baxter
At the end of June 2010, I began volunteering with the Barks of Love Buddy program and after the first day of walking Baxter, I fell in love with him and his spunky personality. Over the next week my husband and I decided to adopt him and bring him home where he lives with us and his new brother Max, the cat. We adopted him from Barks of Love on July 2, 2010. Every day my husband and I find that we are constantly laughing at all of the funny antics Baxter’s does throughout the day and rehashing funny things he has done. Baxter brings so much enjoyment to our lives each day that we feel so lucky to have been able to adopt him.
Baxter loves to go on long walks, although he prefers runs, around the lake and the neighborhood. He especially loves to meet and play with all the dogs we come in contact with along the way. He has so much energy and is constantly playing with various toys. Baxter would make a great addition to the Barks of Love calendar because he is an adopted Barks of Love dog plus he has a great personality and is full of life and energy. Plus look at those ears!
Meet Bailey
Bailey had a rough start in life, he was found in a dumpster when he was only 6-7 weeks old! He was in pretty bad shape but the Mission Viejo Shelter took great care of him. The day I started searching for a puppy I found Bailey on Petfinder and it was love at first sight. Bailey is now 7 months old and loving life. Rescue dogs are the best!
Meet Lola
Lola was just another stray wondering the mean streets of Los Angeles, I suspect that she was used for breeding and let loose. I sometimes wonder how she survived on. Eventually she was picked up by animal control and sent to the county shelter. There she stayed until her time ran out.
Fortunately for her a local rescue group stepped forward and offered to get her out of the shelter. She was saved her on her last day, she was scheduled to be euthanized and the volunteer got there within an hour of saving her life. Although she was out of the shelter, things did not get much better as she was stricken with both parvo and distemper; she had a 10% chance to survive. For two weeks poor Lola was isolated at the veterinarian’s office, she was literally on deaths door, she was so thin and frail that you could count every rib in her body; however she is a survivor and wanted to live. Nothing was going to stop her from having a good life! It should also be noted that while she was recuperating that Lola became a favorite of the veterinarian staff, although happy to see her better, they were a little sad to see her leave their clinic.
Once she pulled through, she was placed in a foster home, my home. I was looking for a new project, something to give my life meaning, and I came to the conclusion that animal rescue would be a good fit. I did not plan on adopting a dog, let alone the very first dog I fostered, so I held off. She was adopted out twice and both times the adoptions did not work out, when she came back the second time I figured it was a sign that she was meant to stay. So now Lola is a treasured member of our family, she adores children and is a born nanny dog. Whenever a child comes her way she always rolls over for a belly rub. She now has a brother named Stone, who is a 3 year old French mastiff/pit-bull mix. Stone was also a foster dog rescued from Pasadena, the two got along so well that we just had to keep them. So now I am a two time foster failure.
Within five minutes of meeting Lola you can tell that she has a gentle nature and a deep soul; her eyes send a message that she has lived a thousand past lives, and did I mention that she is drop dead gorgeous, every time she is in public heads turn. Our next project is to get both dogs to pass the therapy dog test. To meet Lola is to love Lola. She is an ambassador for her breed.
Meet Buster
Hi! My name is Buster! I’m 50% Chihuahua, 50% Miniature Pinscher, and 100% irresistible! I like chicken, snuggling, playing ball, belly scratches, giving lots of kisses, long walks in the sun, and chicken. I dislike getting woken up when I’m comfy, going potty in the rain, the paperboy, and people that don’t share their chicken! I am one year old, and try to be a good boy from time to time.
Most of all, I like it when people help my friends through Barks of Love! So vote for me or my other doggy friends today!
Meet Sophie
She was rescued from the South LA animal shelter, the day before she was going to be put down! Sophie was found at a school in south LA and is being fostered by the person who found her! She was underweight, dirty, and had just had puppies. She is the best running and biking partner! The only thing she does better is CUDDLE! She LOVES kids and to give kisses!
Please give Sophie the love and attention she deserves. She is still working on her social skills but since she is so young she is very trainable!
Meet Foster
Meet Foster. In October 2008 we stopped by the Pasadena Humane Society to drop off some donation items. We decided to walk around the kennels just to visit the doggies and give some love. At the end of our loop we came across two young pitbull mix girls. They looked like twins. We wanted to take them both right away, but we were about to go on vacation for a few weeks and decided to wait. We figured that given their cuteness they would be adopted quickly and since they were still young, at about 5 months, we didn’t really worry for them. December 3rd we came back to the shelter to drop off some more items for donation and decided to go back through and say hi to all the dogs. To our surprise both of the sisters were still there!! Foster was on the euth. list and was in immediate danger because she was not suitable for rescue given her temperament. Foster was extremely timid. If you approached her kennel she would run to the back and hide in the cubby. We spoke to one of the evaluators who told us Foster’s time was up and I couldn’t bear the thought of her being put to sleep. We adopted her with the hopes of finding her a new home, hence the name. We got her home and she was not only really thin, but had mange on her face. We fattened her up and treated her mange and decided that we couldn’t live without her. She is ours forever and we love her so much. She is still very shy, and afraid of men which the vet said indicates she may have been abused. Despite it all, she is so loving and has come a long way.
Well hello there – glad to meet you – my name is Trinket
I am an 8 yr old, 15lb, female Norwich mix terrier (mix unknown)- don’t let my age fool you – I’m very active and I LOVE to go on walks with my foster mom.
I was rescued from the Pasadena shelter with my sister because my former owner passed away =(
I’m not very big – only 12 pounds and I’m such a loving little girl – I get along with other dogs but I would also love being an only dog – either way is ok with me.
My foster mom say’s she can tell how grateful I am at being rescued – I have a jewel of a personality and I’m so sweet and quiet
- if Barks of Love hadn’t of stepped in and saved me – my chances as a senior making it out of the shelter were slim to none – I am thankful for them but I would love to find somewhere to live out my senior years out- could that be with you?
