I love weddings like this one. Outside at a gorgeous location. Fantastic colors. Laid back bride and groom. Fun bridal party. The best cake. Ever. You do know I love cake, right? This cake was not only delicious, but beautiful…more on that later.

I had a hard time picking my favorite sneak peek photos. I have so many favorites, I decided to spread them out over the week. So first up, the gorgeous location and fantastic decor!

The groom picked the colors and I think you will agree, he picked really great ones! The water in the pool even matched! I absolutely love the details. They thought of everything, from soup to nuts.

The theme of this wedding was the beach. So many creative ways to get the beach feel. I love these fish that decorated the sideboard. A little touch of glitzy whimsy. (I think I just invented a new term!)

And what a great way to do the seating assignments. Starfish are so cool. (can’t wait to show you some other starfish shots…one in particular…I love it!)

And the center pieces. More starfish.

Susan, I hope you and Bill had a fantastic honeymoon. I can’t wait for you to see the rest of the photos. I’ll be posting sneak peeks all week. Enjoy them!

Wounded Warriors Prepare To Ride {Los Angeles Soldier Ride}

I got up that morning, had my coffee, walked the dog, jumped in my car and headed to Burbank. The husband was already there. The film crew. The bikes. I stopped for gas. Called my dad on the cell phone when I was stuck in traffic. Things I do every day. Things I certainly take for granted. Things so ordinary, they don’t even register as anything really very important. As I think about the day’s shoot, it starts to dawn on me. These little things are important. They may sound mundane and ordinary, but I am able to do them whenever I want. Because I have the freedom to chose what I do. Because I have a healthy body to take me where I want to go. Because I live in the United States. I forget sometimes that others don’t have these luxuries. And yes, they are luxuries. I forget that some have given their lives, their healthy bodies and their heart and soul so I can live the life I do. So that I can drive to Burbank and photograph the Wounded Warriors as they prepare to ride in the Soldier Ride. So that my husband can film these men and women that chose to fight for what they believe in and for this country we live in. For freedom. So that others can protest the things they do not believe in. So that we can speak our mind. So that we can all live the lives we wish to live. How would it feel if we couldn’t? Walk. Talk. See. Love. Drive. Learn. Enjoy. Relax.

Thank you. I tried to think of a better way to say it, but all I could come up with is thank you. Very much.

Turn up the volume and enjoy. The song is by Ryan Huston called “When You Think Of Me”. Very beautiful and very fitting. I’m sure many of the warriors will be taking a look at this slide show, so leave a comment for them to read. I know they’d love to see the support they have.

I'm Goin' To Oakand! {BADRAP Dog Photo Day}

I have been a fan of BADRAP since way back….when I knew nothing about pit bulls and found out the rescue I was volunteering for had a million of them. Way back before Gabby. Before I met Jazz. Or Georgie. When all I knew about pits were what I heard on the news. I went to their website to learn about the dogs I would be helping to rescue. Boy did I learn a lot!

I’ve followed their blog. Their monumental rescues. Dogs like Nellie. And Hector. I asked (very tenatively) if I could come see their barn and meet the dogs while I’m in Oakland. When they said yes, I was so excited! Woo Hoo, I get to meet the Vick dogs. The Oklahoma dogs. And meet Donna and Tim. Wow! I can’t remember how I got around to asking if they wanted to do a photo day fundraiser. But I did. And they said yes. Nothing I like more than photographing dogs. And raising money for dog rescue. Needless to say, I’ll be in heaven that weekend.
